The Global Sustainability Resource Center (GSRC) is a hub for student leadership and sustainability education. The Resource Center is creating a campus culture of sustainability in which environmental, social, and economic equity considerations inform our academic pursuit and ways of life. The Center supports graduate and undergraduate learning, leadership, and innovation through programs in education, career development, and community building. First incubated by former UC Irvine Environment Institute, the Resource Center is now supported by a partnership among Student Affairs, Division of Undergraduate Education, and the Sustainability Initiative.  It is shaped by the input from students, guided by the support of staff, and modeled after many existing sustainability resource centers at other University of California campuses.

GSRC Signature Programs:

– Weekly Digest: GSRC’s weekly electronic digest keeps students up-to-date about sustainability events, opportunities, and announcements on and off-campus.

  • Sign up to receive the weekly digest by emailing sustainability-center@uci.edu
  • Submit an event, opportunity, or announcement to be included in the weekly digest by emailing sustainability-center@uci.edu

– Anteaters Go Green Guide: Made by students for students, this guide tells you classes to take, clubs to join, trainings to pursue, and who to talk to when you want to create change on campus.

– Internships: GSRC is a field site for UC Irvine students participating in the Social Ecology Field Study program.  GSRC is now accepting applications for Fall Quarter 2014.  To apply, email your letter of interest to sustainability-center@uci.edu.

– Student Advisory Council on Sustainability Education (SACSE): SACSE provides student perspective and assistance to the ad-hoc faculty Task Force on Sustainability Education.

– Earth Reps:  A sustainability leadership program for freshmen living in UC Irvine residence halls. Earth Reps serve as residence hall-based sustainability ambassadors throughout the academic year by expanding student awareness and building community among students, staff, and faculty.

– Summer Institute for Sustainability Leadership (SISL): SISL is UC Irvine’s residential sustainability leadership program for incoming students.

– Students for Sustainability Council (S4S Council): S4S Council is comprised of one student leader from each self-identifying sustainability-related student club on campus.   The Council aims to enable clubs to share information, resources, and skill-building to help strengthen club events and campaigns.
